Will I be an employee of Mobile Media Enterprises (MME)?
In the majority of cases you will be an independent contractor for Mobile Media Enterprises (MME). In rare cases MME may extend a term of temporary employment.
What does Independent Contractor (IC) status mean?
It means that you are basically a vendor that is providing your services. Please take the time to read the independent contractor agreement before you sign so you clearly understand the legal relationship between you and MME. Some positions require Independent Contractors to use company assets (vehicles, etc), company purchasing power (company issued credit card) and/or requirement of the client a background check may need to occur. Field background checks traditionally include Motor Vehicle and Criminal background reports required DOT physicals and drug testing.
Who do I call if I have questions about filling out my paperwork?
Please contact your casting agent, that persons contact information will be at the bottom of your confirmation/ booking email. If you are having problems reaching your booking agent you can call 1-800-346-3771 ext 158
Once I join the team and complete my first event, how will I get paid?
You must do two things in order to be compensated:
- 1. Complete IC paperwork, W9 and attach copy of your government issued photo identification (driver’s license, state id, or passport, etc) and submit by postal mail, fax or email to our office.
- 2. After working all the event hours you are scheduled for submit an invoice via email for approval and processing (email submittal address will be provided by your casting manager)
How do I know that my Independent Contractor paperwork has been received?
You may check your profile page to confirm that this paperwork has been received, this information is updated on a weekly basis. If you have questions about receiving, or completing these forms, please contact your respective booking agent.
Who do I submit my invoice to?
An email address will be provided with every confirmation email that the casting department sends out. Please check your confirmation booking email for this information. If you are in doubt you can always ask your casting manager for clarification. Different events are approved by different account teams, please make sure that you check your booking email for this email address.
What if the hours that I submitted on my invoice differ from the hours my Manager has approved?
In the event that these hours differ, you will be contacted by the account services team and be asked to explain why you think your hours are different than what was reported by our field manager.
How does your cancellation policy work?
If you cancel with less than 72 hours notice and do not replace yourself with a qualified person approved by MME, or no-show to a job, you may be charged with a $25.00 cancellation/no-show fee per shift within those 72 hours.
Do you pay me a cancellation fee if I get cancelled for an event?
MME is not responsible for payment of any cancelled jobs or portions of jobs.
Do you take any agency fees out of my paycheck?
MME does not take any commission or agency fees out of your check. You will be paid the full rate that is listed on the initial posting for the job.
Do you take taxes out of my paycheck?
MME does not take any federal or state taxes from the checks of Independent contractors. As an independent contractor you are responsible for your own taxes.
Will I be paid for my expenses while working at an event?
Your rate of pay should accommodate any additional expenses for your time at our event(s). It is not often that additional expenses (Parking, mileage, tolls, uniform needs, etc) are covered but if so that would be clearly presented to you before the start of any event. Please note that, as an independent contractor, you are able to write these expenses (parking, mileage, uniform needs, etc.) off when you file your personal taxes each year.
Will I receive per diem?
Per Diem is only offered on a case by case basis to those that are part of a touring program. It will be a food per diem only as MME will cover any travel and lodging costs for our touring staff.
Do you pay for parking?
Parking is normally not reimbursed for most events. If it is, you will be told prior to working the promotion. However, as an independent contractor, you are able to write these expenses off when you file your personal taxes each year. Don’t forget to keep your receipts.
Do you reimburse for mileage if I drive outside of my regions?
Mileage is normally not reimbursed. You must be sure that the distance to the event is worth the trip based on the compensation rate. Again, as an independent contractor, you are able to write these expenses off when you file your personal taxes each year. Don’t forget to keep an IRS approved mileage log.
How long does it take to get paid?
MME cuts checks every Friday; Provided that we receive your Independent contractor forms, W9 and invoice (which is to be submitted via email), you should receive your check in a timely manner. We ask that you allow 2-4 weeks for internal processing.
How do I submit a change of address?
Checks will be sent to the address provided on your W-9. If you would like to change your address please fill out a new W9 and return it to our Accounts Payable department.
Do you offer direct deposit?
We do not offer direct deposit to any Independent Contractors.
Do you send tax documents at the end of the year?
If you have earned $600 or more in a calendar year you will receive a 1099 tax document in early February of the following year. Please make sure that you are keeping us updated with your current address. If you did not make $600 or more in the calendar year, then you will not receive any tax documents from MME.
Can I get emails for promotions outside my area?
Email notifications of upcoming jobs will be sent to you based on the regions you have selected within your profile. So be sure to select all of the regions you want to work, and are willing to travel to work on your own dime. MME does not pay travel expenses unless noted in the posting.
How can I get a job on a traveling tour?
The best way to get a position on a traveling tour is to work your way to it. Start by being an exceptional Brand Ambassador and that will open doors for you.
Expected event personal appearance and conduct
Appearance creates the first (and sometimes only) impression made on customers, clients, fellow staff members and the general public. All event field team members are expected to maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
- Activities that detract from an attractive professional appearance, such as chewing gum, talking on personal cell phones, smoking, eating, and/or drinking while performing duties within the event site or inside or outside of a vehicle, or in uniform in the public eye is prohibited.
- In all cases hair should be clean and groomed. Males should either be clean shaven or have groomed facial hair; five o’clock shadows are not acceptable.
- Females may wear one pair of matching earrings while on duty. Males may not wear earrings while on duty. A total of three rings may be worn with no more than two on one hand.
- Any items with prominent branding and/or any religious or political statements should not be worn when on duty
- MME does not tolerate the use of alcohol, illegal drugs or the abuse of prescription medication. Please do not report to work with any unlawful drugs or alcohol in your system as we have reason to believe that this can affect the safety of yourself and others and can also affect your own event performance.
